Eagle Scout Project to Support Our Troops

We've worked with over a dozen young men in the past three years who chose The Care Package Project™ as their Eagle Scout Project to support our troops.

Each young man has designed his own program, then worked with us to get the products to our warehouse for shipping overseas to the Marines. We encourage you to visit the link in the beige box on the right titled "Drives and Fundraisers" to learn more about how to set up a care package drive with us. You may or may not want to use our posters and brochures. Be sure to visit the link "Writing Letters" as well; the Marines love to hear from young people.

If you're thinking about a way to support our troops as your Eagle Scout Project, we'd love to work with you. Contact us at the office to get started, or complete the online form under "Donate Items" and be sure to mention that this is for your Eagle Scout Project.

For additional support and information, specifically on Eagle Scout Projects, contact the office or see this forum for discussion:

Thank You to Our Eagle Scouts!

Dan from New York, Boy Scout Troop 163

Completed July, 2011

Dan Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Dan contacted Marine Parents in the spring of 2011 asking to work with them on a care package drive for his Eagle Scout project. Dan collected items using a variety of methods including asking Scouts to hang flyers and bags on neighborhood doorknobs to ask for donated items, and conducting a drive at his local Catholic parish. Dan also ran full-day drives at two local grocery stores, and with the help of his scout troop, distributed flyers and collected items from shoppers. Dan's plan focused on collecting 25 items most requested by Marines stationed overseas, and he used the donated cash from the drive to purchase even more items. Over the course of the month, Dan collected over 1000 lbs of goods, filling 42 large boxes totaling more than 160,000 cubic inches. Dan's goal was to collect enough items for 50 or more care packages, but thanks to the generosity of his community, he collected enough for 300 care packages for the Marines! Thank you Dan for completing such a successful drive!

Jonathan from Utah, Boy Scout Troop 7512

Jonathan Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed April, 2011

In collaboration with The Care Package Project, Boy Scout Jonathan from South Jordan, Utah, made it his goal to collect 1000 care package items for his Eagle Scout Project. Though his goal was 1000, he ended up collecting 2500 items. He says he received help from his scout troop and some friends from school. He delivered fliers requesting care package content in his community in March, and he picked up the items from porches a week later. He also emailed the flyer to his mom and sister's places of work, passed out flyers to his extended family members and took some to his recruiting station. He sent us photos of the items and we received them in our care package warehouse shortly after. Thank you for deciding to support The Care Package Project, Jonathan. We appreciate your hard work!

Will from Maryland, Boy Scout Troop 540

Will Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Will Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed March, 2011

Will coordinated with our Care Package Project to complete his Eagle Scout Project for his Boy Scout troop. Will provided leadership to volunteers who collected donations from a door-to-door drive in his neighborhood, two collection days outside his local grocery store, and collection boxes placed at area businesses. His goal was to collect 23,000 cubic inches of content to include in care packages for Marines. He collected 17 large boxes of donations measuring about 93,000 cubic inches and weighing approximately 820 pounds. Will shipped the boxes to our Care Package Project warehouse. He also collected cash donations to cover shipping costs and other expenses and 25 cards and letters to include in the care packages. Will estimates that over 300 people made donations of either content or money. What a huge show of support! We thank Will for all of his hard work (he and his volunteers spent over 250 volunteer hours on this project) as well as those who donated to the Marines!

Zach from Texas, Boy Scout Troop 633

Zach Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed January, 2011

Zach contacted us back in August because he wanted to collect content and funds to donate to our Care Package Project in order to complete his Eagle Scout Project. Zach recruited other scouts to place donation boxes in their churches and spread the word through their congregations. He also was able to get a school to collect donations and letters for him for a week. At the end of his project, Zach had collected a whopping 700 lbs. of content, which filled 34 boxes. The content included pretty much everything on our list, from personal care items to canned goods and other foods. He also raised $471 that he sent to us in a check. What a huge display of support...thank you Zach!

Cameron from Texas, Boy Scout Troop 378

Cameron Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed January, 2011

Cameron contacted us in September to let us know that he wanted to work with Marine Parents and The Care Package Project to complete his Eagle Scout Project. His goal was to collect items to be put in care packages, and we were more than happy to work with him on this project. From October to January Cameron collected four boxes of care package content weighing just over 136 pounds, and when he finished his project there were a total of about 487 items in the boxes. The items included various media such as books, magazines and CDs. He also collected monetary donations that totaled $1000, which he sent to us in the form of a check. Thanks so much for your hard work Cameron!

Austin from Georgia, Boy Scout Troop 40

Austin Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Austin Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed December, 2010

Austin decided that he wanted to work with Marine Parents and The Care Package Project to complete his Eagle Project. His goal was to collect essential items to include in packages for deployed Marines, and he did this by holding a content drive at his local grocery store in Roswell, GA. He handed out lists of needed items as folks walked in so they knew what to buy if they wished to contribute to the project. Austin's Eagle project turned out very successful: he collected enough items to fill 20 large boxes! Thanks so much for your hard work Austin! Congratulations on your project's success!

Zach from Minnesota, Boy Scout Troop 3290

Zach Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Zach Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed July, 2009

Zach contacted us in March of 2009 with a proposal to collect items to be included in care packages as part of The Care Package Project. As part of his Eagle Scout Project he collected items through the use of door to door collection bags. His goal for the project was to collect enough materials to supply around 50 care packages. Zach sent us 13 large boxes filled with enough material to supply almost 100 care packages! Thank you for all of your help and Congratulations Zach!

Greg from Georgia, Boy Scout Troop 2000

Greg Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Greg Eagle Scout Project Care Packages

Completed May, 2009

Greg contacted Marine Parents in February to work with us on his Eagle Scout Project. He held a drive from April 27th to May 11th to collect items to include in the care packages we send overseas to deployed Marines. Greg's initial plan was to collect 20 specific items to make up 100 care packages but his collection drive was so successful that he ended up collecting approximately 42 boxes of items, enough to make up more than 200 care packages consisting of 31 items each with an additional 800+ items to include in other care packages. Thank you for choosing Marine Parents to work with on your Eagle Scout Project!
